Roberto Querci inizia la libera professione nel 1977, fondando lo studio CTP assieme a Paolo Deganello, Gilberto Corretti e Franco Gatti, con cui partecipa a selezionati concorsi di architettura improntati ad un marcata sensibilità sociale.
Nel 1986 accetta la proposta di Cassina spa di trasferirsi a Tokyo: ricerca gli elementi che consentono lo scambio culturale, ne assorbe, selezione e reinterpreta l’ethos.
In questo periodo, con Casatec Ltd, sviluppa svariati progetti realizzati in diverse città giapponesi. Due case sono state realizzate: una a Tokyo ed una a Nara. A Kyoto un edificio commerciale.
Nel 1990 costituisce la Querci and Associates KK ampliando l’attività ed operando contemporaneamente come consulente di Katsura Kensetsu, società di engineering giapponese. Con questa sviluppa progetti per committenti pubblici: biblioteche, complessi municipali, stabilimenti balneari.
In Giappone resta otto anni realizzando oltre 40 progetti: gli interni comprendono showroom, boutiques , case private, uffici. Una mostra sui suoi lavori “Love, life-style and will” ha luogo a Tokyo nel 1993.
Nel 1994 rientra in Italia, realizza progetti per abitazioni, uffici e nuovi edifici: in Bohemia (Rep.Ceca)per l’espansione di un castello, a Parigi per il progetto di un padiglione nel giardino di un ospedale pubblico. A Milano l’ingresso e il percorso di accesso del Teatro S. Babila.
Dal 2005 si occupa di “retail” spingendo il progetto a ricercare un contraddittorio con gli elementi del contesto locale. I suoi lavori sono stati pubblicati su riviste italiane e giapponesi.
È stato più volte intervistato dalla RAI nell’ambito di trasmissioni radio e televisive.
In Giappone è stato invitato come relatore a conferenze presso la Yomiuri Hall ed al Club della Stampa Estera.
Roberto Querci takes his degree in Architecture at the Milano Politecnico in 1976.
In 1977 he is a co-founder of CTP together with Paolo Deganello, Gilberto Corretti and Franco Gatti. The group carried out selected competitions on socially oriented architecture.
In 1986 he is engaged by Cassina Spa and assigned as a representative in Tokyo. His specific task being to contribute to the development of the company’s ethos and activities in Japan, by facilitating instances of cultural exchange and assimilating traditional and innovative features of local design and construction philosophy.
While in Japan – all through 1993 – he works at a wide range of initiatives, carrying out over 40 projects in different cities. Outstanding among these: the construction of a private house in Tokyo and one in Nara, along with a commercial firm’s building in Kyoto. As an interior designer he directs the set up of showrooms, boutiques, private residences and various businesses’ premises.
In 1990 he starts the Querci and Associates KK enterprise, expanding his professional pursuit all over Japan and working as a consultant for the engineering company Katsura Kensetsu, for which he supervises the carrying out of local community projects, such as libraries, town hall buildings and beach facilities.
In 1993 the conglomerate Tokyo Gas, along with the Italian Embassy and the European Community Commission, sponsor and exhibit on his works, titled “Love, Life-Style and Will”.
In 1994, once back in Italy, he plans and carries out the completion of a number of projects in Europe. Outstanding among these: the expansion of a castle in Bohemia (Czech Republic), the construction of a new block on the grounds of the gardens of a public hospital in Paris, the entrance and foyer of the S. Babila Theatre in Milan.
Since 2005 he has been actively engaging in the development of retail business venues, focusing his efforts on melding coherent and congruous dissonances between commercial facilities and local urban contexts.
His works have been widely reviewed in Italian and Japanese publications.
Throughout his working years in Japan he has been invited as a lecturer at venues such as the Yomiuri Hall and the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Japan.
The Italian public Radio and TV service RAI has run interviews with him on a number of occasions.
